For Buyers

Inspect Before You Pay

  • Always inspect the vehicle in person before making any payments.

  • Check the chassis number, engine number, and vehicle registration card (geran).

  • Compare the ad details with the physical condition of the vehicle.

Meet in a Safe Location

  • Choose a public, well-lit location like a petrol station, police station, or R&R stop.

  • Avoid isolated areas or private homes (unless you’re sure of the seller’s identity).

Bring Someone With You

  • It’s always safer to bring a friend or family member when meeting a seller.

Verify Ownership Documents

  • Ask to see the seller’s IC and the vehicle’s original registration card (JPJ).

  • Be cautious of sellers who avoid showing official documents.

Avoid Full Upfront Payments

  • Never pay the full amount in advance.

  • Use a secure payment method or arrange partial payment after proper inspection.

Be Wary of “Too Good to Be True” Deals

  • If the price is way below market value, it could be a scam or a stolen vehicle.

  • Do your research and trust your instincts.

For Sellers

Verify the Buyer

  • Be cautious of buyers who:

    • Rush the transaction

    • Offer to pay without seeing the car

    • Refuse to meet in person

Avoid Sharing Sensitive Information

  • Do not share personal information (e.g., bank login details, IC scans) unnecessarily.

  • Use SoloCar’s platform for communication when possible.

Meet in Safe Public Places

  • Arrange meetups in secure locations, preferably during daylight hours.

  • If a test drive is requested, ensure you're present and hold their IC or license during the drive.

Secure Your Payment

  • Only release the vehicle after full payment has cleared.

  • Be cautious with online banking screenshots — wait for actual bank confirmation.
